Ways to Engage

FUSE FUSE is a safe space for questioning and queer people of color (QPOC) to come destress and discuss different topics centered around intersectional identities. FUSE collaborates with other organizations and also host social and educational events. CUTES Campus Union for Trans* Equality and Support (CUTES) is an organization dedicated to advocacy and support of transgender, genderqueer, gender fluid, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming students. CUTES helps bring important visibility to issues affecting trans* people on campus and works with other groups and offices to provide resources that help affirm its members’ gender identities. A-Space A-Space is a safe space for members of the asexual and aromantic spectrum and their allies. Meetings range from discussion topics to social meetings, to external activities, sometimes with other LGBTQ student groups.

Out in Medicine Out in Medicine is a group of LGBT students and allies who have a firm commitment to embracing diversity on campus by providing resources, support, and a friendly community for LGBT medical students, allies, and others. Its mission is to ensure a safe and friendly academic environment for LGBT students and faculty in the medical community at the University of Illinois. Members advocate for LGBT patients by supporting the inclusion of LGBT health issues in medical school curricula and improving the quality of patient care through physician sensitivity. They also work towards educating the medical community regarding LGBT health concerns and welcoming LGBT applicants by answering any questions they might have about LGBT life at the University of Illinois.

LGBTJew LGBTJew is an Illini Hillel-affiliated

organization open to ALL students interested in building stronger connections among the LGBTQ+ and Jewish/religious communities on campus. Members hold fundraisers, pride events, movie nights, workshops, and more. LGBT Resource Center The mission of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Resource Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is to foster an environment that is open, safe, and inclusive for people of all sexualities and gender identities. The Center is a resource not only for the LGBT community but for the entire University of Illinois community. The LGBT Resource Center seeks to help in the efforts to address homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and heterosexist attitudes and beliefs on the campus, and to work to make the environment safe and affirming for all students, faculty, staff, and LGBT students, faculty, and staff at the University of Illinois in particular.

Out in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (oSTEM) oSTEM is a national LGBTQ-affirming organization whose mission is to: Provide services and support for students of sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics; Create a dynamic network between students and professionals in industry and academia; Actively recruit and address the needs of diverse groups within the LGBTA community, inclusive of those who are historically underrepresented with regards to gender and ethnic background.
