with the glorious promises given to the covenant people. Thus there was a spiritual reason why the daughters- in-law should accompany her to Im manuel’s land. Happy the life when there is a similar reason why men and women, and even little children, should desire to go with the Christian along life’s pilgrimage: there .is no life so attractive as the one filled with the presence of God. 3. "Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her" (v. 14). There are those like Orpah today. They think well of Christ, and say nice things about Him, but they are not willing to give up the world for Him. Those of true faith are like Kuth. They re nounce the world and the past life of sin and cleave unto the Lorc^ for everything. God is always willing to receive these, no matter what their country or race. For ths Children T h e F rien d s o f R u t h R uth 2:1-3, 14-17 MEMORY VERSE: “Forget not to show love unto strangers” (Heb. 13:2 R.V.). Do you know boys and girls who refuse to be kind to those whom they do not know very well or those of another race or religion? God’s Word tells us about one of the Children of Israel who remembered to show love to a stranger. Two Jewish boys married in the strange land to which their father had taken them and their mother, Naomi. Soon the father and both of the sons died. Naomi decided to return to her friends in the land of Israel. Ruth, the wife of one of her sons, refused to leave her. So together they jour neyed to Bethlehem, where they were joyfully received by Naomi’s friends. Ruth asked Naomi to allow her to go out into the fields and gather corn. The field which Ruth entered was owned by Boaz, a wealthy man who was related to Naomi’s husband. When Boaz came to his field, he saw the stranger and asked one of his servants who she was. Rather than being un friendly and angry with Ruth, Boaz talked kindly to her and told her to gather what she needed. He com manded the reapers to leave some of the corn for Ruth to gather. How grateful she must have been to Boaz for his help and friendliness! Surely God was well pleased with Boaz be cause he was kind to the stranger who had come to Bethlehem. Do you know some lonely boy or girl who needs a friend? Perhaps by being friendly to that child you may show him or her the love for everyone that the Lord Jesus gives Christians. By loving those who need oui; love, we may lead them to the Saviour, the dearest of all Friends,
