HAT IS THRIFT? Just getting the most in long-run- | satisfaction out of your time and money. Don’t waste—- g that is the whole of it.” A good definition from a secular paper. It has a I splendid application to Christian people in these days. | We want to help you. We want to do it in an unselfish way. They say advice is cheap. That is not so with us. .j'J It has cost a good deal of red blood to be able to look people in the eyes and say some things. This wisdom cometh not from beneath,

a ' You want to invest your tithes and offerings where you can feel sure they will bring you good results, of course. Say you have ten thousand or one hundred thousand or a million dollars. You have g worked hard, saved it, denied yourself, sacrificed. You want to be | sure you can secure an annual return from an investment of it. You 1 ! go to a good, reliable banker or investment company or a competent 1 | friend if you have one, or perhaps to all three of them, and get the best advice. Sometimes even these men fail you but you do your best and make your investment and expect your interest. | You don’t' do that way, do you, with the Lord’s money? ' We say Lord’s money, for of course if you are a Christian, you belong to the Lord and all you have is His. You know when He saves us He gives 1 Himself to us, and then Christ is ours and all things are ours And then He has purchased us with His own blood and we are His. So is really a kind of partnership matter, and we must do something with that which He has entrusted to us if we are on the square in thé part nership. So we pray about it and seek wisdom concerning it because we want it to bring the best rate of interest for Him and us,—or, I mean, we ought to but do we? Or do we just dump it into a basket or turn it over to any one that comes along with ahy kind of a good-looking, good-talking cause? That is hardly fair to Him and we will feel sorry when the limelight is on the transaction. We wouldn’t put His | and our money into a Poison Candy Factory if we knew it, would we? Well, look out,—there are lots of the agents of the Factory going around now picking up the money of the gullible. | Well, what shall we do? If it goes to a preacher, he must be on the square with our Lord Jesus, our partner. He must be on the square with our Lord’s Word. If it goes to a missionary, the mis sionary must be on the square with our Lord. If it is to go into any philanthropic organization, we must be sure that it is on the square with bur Lord. You see, it is His and ours and we must not allow Him to be defrauded even if we are willing to lose out ourselves. You know He is going to look over the accounts some day to see how we have been doing business and it would be rather embarrassing to have Him look into our faces and say, “How is this?” ! We can put some investments up to you that are absolutely on the square with pur Lord and about which you can satisfy yourself. Work at home and work abroad; work with the Jews; work for Spanish people; for the Gospel in the homes; for men in the factories- for seamen of all nationalities; for men in the oil fields; for a»training i school for Christian workers; for South America, Africa, China We can tell you where and who is doing the work on the square. We will be glad to serve you. Write us. It will cost you nothing. 1 ! T. C. HORTON, | Supt., Bible Institute of Los Angeles.
