PROVIDED BY OTHERS REQUIRED TO MEET NEED

Playgrounds Met New playgrounds were constructed at Frontier Sports Complex at the 95th Street Community Plaza (2020), Wolf’s Crossing Community Park (2020) and Naper Commons Park (2022). While this need is considered met, the Park District should monitor any gaps as noted on the Levels of Service map. Baseball Fields 60’ 23 - (4) 72 4 As recommended in the previous plan, a new 60’ baseball field was constructed at Wolf’s Crossing Community Park. Data at the time of park development suggested only one (1) field was needed with open space available at the site to construct another field (or other use) should that need change. From the last plan, the Park District should review the feasibility of constructing one (1) new field at Country Lakes. Look into collaboration with other organizations and ensure these fields can be easily converted to 70’. Baseball Fields 80’ 3 (4) While an 80’ field was considered as an amenity during the Wolf’s Crossing Community Park development, it was decided that size field wasn’t need at the time. Similar to above, there is space available at the site should the need change down the road. This need can be considered met since 60’/70’ fields are used and programmed more often than 80’ fields. Additionally, through a partnership agreement with Naperville Little League Baseball, the Park District is transitioning two ballfield infields to synthetic turf at DuPage River Sports Complex and Knoch Park to improve field playability and reduce maintenance. Youth Softball Fields 14 - (4) The District operated with 14 softball fields in the last ten years. If there is an increase in youth softball participation in the future, the District should monitor the need for additional softball field opportunities. Large Multiuse Fields 34 - Met While this amenity is met, a sizeable portion in northwest Naperville is not within the service area limits. However, the parks available in the area may not have the size needed for Large Multiuse Fields. Explore the installation of multiuse fields at Country Lakes to add balance. Small Multiuse Fields 32 - Met This amenity is met and essentially services the entire Naperville community. Tennis Courts 34 22 Met Facilities provided by others include 12 courts at Neuqua Valley High School and 10 courts available at Naperville North High School through use agreements, but with limited use. A market study was prepared in 2009 and determined a Tennis Court center was not needed. Through the courts owned by the District in addition to the public courts available, Naperville residents are amply served. Pickleball 42 - Met The Park District took notice of “the fastest growing sport in America” and the impact on Naperville residents by painting pickleball striping on existing tennis courts beginning in 2015. In 2018, the first dedicated pickleball courts were constructed at Nike Sports Complex. Over time, the Park District constructed 18 dedicated pickleball courts in total, across each maintenance area (North, Central, and South), along with 24 courts striped on existing tennis courts, totaling 42 courts—this figure does not include indoor courts at Fort Hill Activity Center, where up to 6 courts are available during (0.5) New basketball courts were added at Wolf’s Crossing Community Park (2) and Naper Commons Park (1). The Park District removed one (1) basketball court from its leased inventory as it was no longer usable. This amenity is nearly met. designated times. Basketball Courts 29.5 -
