Concluding Remarks/Next Steps After the Park District’s development of goals for the new plan, the CGS team met with the District’s management team to develop an action plan that lays the groundwork for implementation. Action planning entails designating responsible departments and staff, key milestones, anticipated resources and completion timeframe for strategic goals. The District’s management team has developed a framework for action, updates and decision points that can be shared with the Board and community at important intervals. As stewards of the plans and programs that serve the community, the district’s leaders will share progress through the District’s various information sources and communication platforms. The October 2022 workshops provided a creative and reflective atmosphere to methodically and strategically determine where the Park District wants to go as an organization. The process the District utilized is representative of the classic steps and exercises that shape a holistic strategic planning process (Figure 3). We applaud the District for its commitment to forward thinking. We encourage the District to use the results of the 2023-2025 update to prepare action plans that can guide the organization’s future direction. This summary document is designed to capture the results of the discussions and assist the District in developing implementation and action plans for the goals and priorities that will shape its future.
