Planning Area Inventory and Analysis Initially introduced in the 2001 Open Space and Recreation Master Plan, the Naperville Park District continues to utilize eight (8) Planning Areas. The Planning Area boundaries are based upon physical barriers not easily traversed by pedestrians, such as arterial roads and the BNSF Railway. This separation allows the District to disperse programming and open space equitably and assist in future decision-making. This section identifies total open space and recreational amenities by each Planning Area and offers recommendations to accommodate future need.
