2019 Budget

Rentals Summary Revenue from rentals has remained fairly consistent each year since 2014, with approximately $660,000 to $690,000 received annually. A revised athletic field fee structure was implemented in 2015 which charges all groups for the actual time they reserve a field versus tracking expenses and seeking reimbursement. The new structure requires organizations to track and monitor their field use in order to reserve and pay for only the time that they need. The reductions in revenue in 2016 and 2017 is due, in part, to the implementation of the new field fee structure, as well as the introduction of new scheduling software and ballfield prep fees that were not fully applied to organization billing until 2018. Synthetic turf field use has remained consistent each year at Nike Sports Complex and Commissioners Park. The synthetic turf rental fees increased from $80 to $90 per hour in 2015, and from $90 to $100 per hour in 2018. Synthetic turf fields are available for use by groups year round, versus natural turf fields that are available from April through early November, and they are the only fields permitted by the Park District for practices. The budget for 2019 was completed prior to the 2018 year end, and is more reflective of the average revenues received in 2016 and 2017. Based upon 2018 year end results the 2019 revenues are expected to exceed budget. Rentals Objectives • Continue to maximize Nike Sports Complex and Commissioner Park synthetic turf field scheduling and rental revenue. • Identify opportunities to increase rental revenue through additional synthetic turf space. • Complete the implementation of the new athletic field fee structure and phased increases in field fees • Evaluate athletic field fees for the 2020 budget to determine if adjustments are needed
