Area 1 is comprised of a large industrial corridor on the western edge of Naperville and along North Aurora Road with a strong commercial corridor along Route 59 and Diehl Road. Area 1 is the most populated Planning Area in the Park District. The single family and multi-family residential neighborhoods throughout this area are comprised of both new and old development. Several senior living developments are within this boundary as well. This area is easily accessible to I-88 and is in close proximity to a Metra train stop (Route 59). There are a number of school sites in this area, some of which the Park District partners with for programming and amenity offerings. These sites can also act as additional open space and recreational providers outside of school hours. The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County’s McDowell Forest Preserve nearly divides the area and offers residents additional open space. The Illinois Prairie Path traverses the northwestern portion of this area while offering a unique trail opportunity.
