2023 Master Plan

Amenities Considerations/Recommendations • Consider Country Lakes Park as a location for a new multiuse field (or fields) and/or 80’ baseball field. • A new access point off of North Aurora Road and Weston Ridge Drive following roadway improvements and lighted intersection will increase users at this location. • Consider lighting the northwest field areas at Nike Sports Complex before investing further resources for lights at Country Lakes Park. • Continue emphasis on maintaining existing amenities and improvements for each park based on the Service Level Guidelines outlining park maintenance standards and the Design Guidelines. • Continue researching trail linkage opportunities as referenced in the Trails Master Plan or as proposals arise from residents or partnering agencies. Open Space Summary Neighborhood Parks and Community Parks are intended to serve the planning area versus other park types, which are aimed to serve the entire community. With this reasoning, Neighborhood Parks and Community Parks acreage is reviewed for each planning area.

Open Space Considerations/Recommendations While it remains unlikely for the District to reach the acreage required to serve this area entirely, attempts to acquire high-quality land should still remain a priority because of the large population in this area. However, the Forest Preserve properties (McDowell Grove) and school sites offset this acreage when considered as servicing this area.
