Recreation Programming Plan

2.0 ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE A seven member Board of Commissioners elected at-large by Naperville voters governs the organization, each serving a four-year term. Board meetings are held each month on the second Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and the fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Additionally, "Matters from the Public" allows for public comment on park district operations at each regular meeting. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board and manages the day-to-day operations of the District. Under the Executive Director's management, a staff of full-time professionals oversees recreation and facilities, golf, park operations, planning and development, park police, marketing and communications, finance, human resources, and information technology. More than 1,000 part-time and seasonal employees lend their support to the District's operations, programs and services. A copy of the District’s Organizational Chart can be found under Appendix B. RECREATION DEPARTMENT ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The Recreation Department consists of five divisions, including Programming, Facilities, Aquatics, Volunteers, and Customer Service. The Recreation Programming Division is directly responsible for the coordination and management of t he District’s programs and events. The Facilities Division is responsible for the operation of the Fort Hill Activity Center, Knoch Knolls Nature Center, and Riverwalk Café. Additionally, the division is responsible for providing program and event support through the Custodial Division, which also cleans facilities District-wide. The Aquatics Division is responsible for the operation of Centennial Beach, the Paddleboat Quarry, and year-round aquatics programs. The Volunteer Division is responsible for c oordinating the District’s volunteers, who assist with programs and events, as well as park maintenance projects. Finally, the Customer Service division is responsible for a variety of customer service, clerical, administrative and technical functions relating to registration, membership sales, facility rentals, customer communication and service desk operations. Program Managers, Facility Managers, and the Nature Center Manager are responsible for managing programs and services within each of the core program and service areas.
