Amenities Considerations/ Recommendations • Land acquisition opportunities are limited in this area so continued maintenance of existing amenities remains a priority; however, if an acquisition opportunity arises, analyze and balance maintenance of developing new facilities in comparison with existing amenities. • Look for opportunities to extend the trail network, whether through existing parks or partnering with other agencies, to improve the mobility network on a city- or regional-wide scale. • Due to the proximity of I-88, a large multiuse field (or fields) would assist athletic organizations preferring to play games in the north end of the community that would reduce reliance on Nike Sports Complex—this is only feasible by acquiring land with enough space for such fields. • Consider relationships with athletic organizations when researching athletic amenity improvements. • Continue researching trail linkage opportunities as referenced in the Trails Master Plan or as proposals arise from residents or partnering agencies. • Consider maintenance and improvements for each park based on the Service Level Guidelines outlining park maintenance standards and the Design Guidelines. Open Space Summary Neighborhood Parks and Community Parks are intended to serve the planning area versus other park types, which are aimed to serve the entire community. With this reasoning, Neighborhood Parks and Community Parks acreage is reviewed for each planning area.
