Maintenance Level Guidelines

12.0 Vehicles and Equipment – Is maintained and repaired by our Fleet Division. Regular preventive maintenance of the vehicles and equipment is scheduled. 13.0 Special Features – Should be maintained for safety, function, and high quality appearance as per established design. 14.0 Special Usage – Various parks may include special usage such as Frisbee Golf or Ribfest. Parks with natural areas or special plantings may also have special usage areas. MODE III The following characteristics distinguish the Mode III maintenance management level: 1.0 Turf Care – Grass cut once every 5-7 working days. Aeration not less than once per year on programmed areas. Reseeding and sodding as needed. The athletic field turf will receive the higher level of maintenance, the remaining turf will be treated like a neighborhood park. 1.1 Turf Care Weed Removal – Remove 95% of visible weeds. 1.2 Turf Care Fertilizer – Applied when turf vigor is unhealthy. Athletic fields will receive a minimum of two applications. 1.3 Turf Care Irrigation – This will be used on a project specific basis. 2. Litter Control – Minimum service of two times per week. High use may dictate higher levels during warm season. 3. Tree and Shrub Care – When required for health or reasonable appearance. A scheduled cycle every 2 or 3 years for general shrub health and every 7-10 years for trees. 4. Disease and Insect Control – Done on epidemic or serious complaint basis. Control measures may be put into effect when the health or survival of the plant material is threatened. 5. Winter Operations – Snow removal generally accomplished by the day following snowfall. Some crosswalks or surfaces may not be cleared. See Appendix A…Winter Work Responsibilities for complete details. 6. Lighting – Replacements or repair of fixtures when report filed or when noticed by employees. Work should be completed no later than 10 working days from it being reported. 7. Surfaces – Should be cleaned on a notice basis. Repaired or replaced as budget allows. 8. Repairs – Should be done whenever the safety or function is in question. 9. Inspections – Once per week at the time of mowing. 10. Floral Plantings – Perennials or flowering trees or shrubs. 11. Restrooms – When present, serviced a minimum of 7 times per week. Seldom more than once each day.
