Maintenance Level Guidelines

12. Vehicles and Equipment – Is maintained and repaired by our Fleet Division. Regular preventive maintenance of the vehicles and equipment is scheduled. 13. Special Features – Minimum allowable maintenance for features present with function and safety in mind. 14. Special Usage – Various parks may include special usage such as natural areas or special plantings. MODE IV The following characteristics distinguish the Mode IV maintenance management level: 1.0 Turf Care – Grass cut every 5-7 working days. Normally not aerated unless turf quality indicates a need. Reseeding or re-sodding will be done only when major bare spots appear. 1.1 Turf Care Weed Removal – Scheduled every 2-3 years to remove 75 % of the visible weeds. 1.2 Turf Care Fertilizer – Applied when turf vigor is unhealthy 1.3 Turf Care Irrigation – This will be used on a project basis. 2. Litter Control – Minimum of once per week . High use may dictate higher levels during warm season. 3. Tree and Shrub Care – When required for health or reasonable appearance. A scheduled cycle every 2-3 years for general shrub health and every 7-10 years for trees. 4. Disease and Insect Control – None except where epidemic and epidemic condition threatens resource or public. 5. Winter Operations – None except where major access-ways, school/commuter routes, or active parking areas dictate the need for removal. See Appendix A… Winter Work Responsibilities for complete details. 6. Lighting – Replacements scheduled upon discovery.

7. Surfaces – Should be repaired or replaced when safety is a concern. 8. Repairs – Will be done whenever the safety or function is in question.

9. Inspections – Once per month. – Parks with playgrounds weekly; other parks monthly. 10. Floral Plantings – May have wildflowers, perennials, flowering trees, or shrubs in place. 11. Restrooms – When present, 7 times per week. 12. Vehicles and Equipment – Is maintained and repaired by appropriate staff. Regular preventive maintenance of the vehicles and equipment is scheduled.
