Maintenance Level Guidelines

13. Special Features – Minimum maintenance to allow safe use. 14. Special Usage – Various parks may include special usage such as natural areas or special plantings. MODE V The following characteristics distinguish the Mode V maintenance management level: 1.0 Turf Care – Low frequency mowing schedule based on species. Low growing grasses may not be mowed. High grasses may receive periodic mowing to aid public use or reduce fire danger. Zero to four mowing cycles per year. 1.1 Turf Care Weed Removal – Weed control limited to legal requirements of noxious weeds. 1.2 Turf Care Fertilizer – As needed. 1.3 Turf Care Irrigation – No irrigation. 2. Litter Control – Once per week or less depending on observation. 3. Tree and Shrub Care – No regular trimming. Safety or damage from weather dictates actual work schedule. 4. Disease and Insect Control – None except where epidemic and epidemic condition threatens resource or public. 5. Winter Operations – None except where major access-ways, school/commuter routes, or active parking areas dictate the need for removal. See Appendix A… Winter Work Responsibilities. 6. Lighting – Replacements scheduled upon discovery.

7. Surfaces – Should be repaired or replaced when safety is a concern. 8. Repairs – Will be done whenever the safety or function is in question. 9. Inspections – Once per month.

10. Floral Plantings – May have wildflowers, perennials, flowering trees, or shrubs in place. 11. Vehicles and Equipment – Is maintained and repaired by appropriate staff. Regular preventive maintenance of the vehicles and equipment is scheduled. 12. Special Features – Minimum maintenance to allow safe use. MODE VI The following characteristics distinguish the Mode VI maintenance management level:
