Maintenance Level Guidelines

Ponds will be inspected on a monthly basis. At certain times of the year, weekly inspections may be required. The pond will be inspected for these main items: a. Water Quality – Based on the pond appearance and overall health, determinations will be made on the next course of action to rectify. b . Inlets – The inlets will be inspected to make sure there is no debris interfering with the free flow of work. If it is determined there is debris blocking water, it will be removed. c. General Park Maintenance – At this time, the area in and around the pond will be checked for cleanliness and litter picked as necessary along with any debris removed. d. Signage – Regulatory safety signage at the aquatic areas will include: No Swimming, Ice Skating. Where clear boundaries can be determined, a minimum of 4 signs (one per side of the pond) will be maintained. 13.6 Fishing Piers/Decks Inspect piers and decks monthly, making repairs as needed. Pier/deck planks are intact, smooth, and structurally sound, free of splinters, and have no cracks greater than 1/4". Nails, bolts, or screws are flush with the surface. Planks are level with no excessive warping. Hand rails are present and structurally sound. 14. Picnic Areas – Pavilions/Shelter Facilities Maintenance Level Guidelines are set for 2 types of picnic areas: Class A picnic areas and are established in community parks used frequently by individuals, families, and groups that have a designated number of units available on a reservation basis. Minimum facilities for Class A picnic areas include: vault toilets, parking area, refuse containers, picnic tables, and cooking grills. Class B picnic areas are community and neighborhood parks with less than minimum facilities that can be used intermittently by families, small groups, and neighborhoods for picnic not normally reserved. Maintenance Level Guidelines Clean facilities before and after every reserved use. Replace broken, damaged, or stolen equipment within seven days of observation. Woodchip picnic area as needed to control erosion and provide for ground cover. Rotate table locations to eliminate compaction and turf wear. This service is offset by rental fees. 14.1 Pavilions Inspect quarterly for Trades and bi-annually for Parks for any structural, electrical, plumbing and equipment damage and make repairs as needed. Clean facility before every rental. Repaint interiors every 3-5 years or sooner depending on deterioration. Repaint exterior as needed.
