Maintenance Level Guidelines

8. Broom, rake or power wash dirt build-up and lips around the fields as needed. 9. Apply weed control as needed. C. Soccer / Football: 1. Inspect goals weekly checking for stress cracks in the welds, missing nuts and bolts. 2. Re-anchor goals as needed. 3. Repair or replace torn nets as needed. Nets are provided by the Recreation Department. 4. A minimum of 3 “No Climbing” stickers on each goal 5. Football/soccer fields will be laid out, striped, with goals installed, one week prior to the beginning of game play. 6. Lines are re- marked at weekly intervals during the season. “Spectator” lines will be provided as part of the weekly re-striping routine for soccer fields. 7. Fields are clearly designated either by a numbering of lettering system. D. Bleachers: 1. Inspect during tri-annual ballfield inspections for missing hardware including end caps and make repairs as needed. 2. Clean and remove trash and debris daily during league/tournament play. E. Fencing: 1. Inspect fences three times per year on tri-annual Park inspections and annual for Trades and record damage. 2. Repair damaged hardware, gates, rails and fabric as necessary. 3. An upper and lower rail should be present on all sidelines and dug out fencing. 17.6 Artificial Turf Fields 1. During the season (March – November), garbage and litter picking will be done daily, as well as a quick daily inspection. 2. A weekly inspection form will be completed as long as the field is open. 3. Sweeping or cleaning debris will be done as necessary, a minimum of monthly. 4. Grooming will be done as needed (or bi-weekly). 5. Disinfectant will be sprayed on a monthly basis or as needed due to any spills or bodily fluids. 6. A blower is used to keep debris and crumb rubber to a minimum where the turf meets the concrete curbing. 7. Roundup or mechanical weed removal applied as needed around the field where the turf meets the concrete curbing. 8. The shade canopy will be placed on the shade structure during the warm months and remove prior to winter. 9. Sweeping, grooming and disinfectant treatments will be tracked on appropriate forms when completed. 10. An overall field form is available to track any problems noticed on the field such as turf burns or infill additions. 11. Fields will be closed down due to snow and ice during the winter months. Signage will be put up as the season approaches. When snow and ice is present, the fields are locked until the largest game field is completely clear of all snow or ice. Some snow removal may be necessary to allow access on to the playing field as the weather warms. 18.0 School District Support – Little League – NBA – NYFL and Others
