ICE RINK OPERATIONS

Outdoor Ice Rinks: Construction, Maintenance and Operation Service Levels I. Class A Ice Rink is defined by the following performance objectives and support facilities: A. Maintained for maximum, community-wide use including: 1. Surface rotary broomed daily 2. Snow removal after every snowfall 3. Scraped weekly 4. Resurfaced daily(weather-permitting) 5. All holes and cracks repaired daily 6. Checked daily for safety, ice conditions, posting of necessary signs, and preparation of skating condition reports to supervisor. B. Lighted for night use and to enable nighttime maintenance procedures. C. Adequate parking for 75 vehicles. D. Class A rinks include Centennial Beach. II. Class B Ice Rink is defined by the following performance objectives and support facilities: A. Service area by neighborhood. B. Maintained for neighborhood use. 1. Surface rotary broomed daily as needed (weather-permitting). 2. Snow removal after every snowfall. 3. Scraped periodically to remove irregularities as needed. 4. All holes and cracks repaired daily. . 5. Checked daily for safety, ice conditions, posting of necessary signs, and preparation of skating condition reports to supervisor. C. No support facilities provided. D. Open to free skating only. E. Maintenance priority should be given to those parks that have both ice skating and sledding facilities. F. Class B rinks include: Gartner Commissioners Nike Sports Complex Meadow Glens
