Open Space Considerations/Recommendations • Population growth is predicted to remain stable since the area is largely developed. The ability to acquire land in this Area should be assigned as a priority, even if it is unattainable due to buildout status. • There is a surplus of Neighborhood Parks in this area, but a deficiency in Community Parks. If land becomes available, the Park District should look to acquire additional land to alleviate this deficiency. • Consider partnership opportunities with local schools or colleges to supplement recreational open space needs, especially if costs are too high and outweigh benefits to acquire land. • However, forest preserve properties (Pioneer Park, Goodrich Woods, Eggerman Woods) service this area with additional open space acreage. • Community Park acreage from Areas 3 and 6 can serve this area as well via the two-mile driving radius.
