Snow Removal Equipment Operations
Key Points to Check John Deere Brooms/Blades
Maintenance check before operating: • Check and fill fuel and oil as needed • Grease bearings and blades • Check tire pressure • Check and tighten nuts, bolts, chains, pins, etc. • Grease main drive shaft • Check hydraulic hoses for leaks • Report all equipment damages before operating • Inspect rubber blades • Check wipers
Starting Procedures: • Sit on seat • Ensure parking brake is set, PTO lever is in off position • Lift lever in transport or float position • Throttle control ½ way • Push glow plug switch on and hold until indicator glows red • Turn key to start position • Check implement operations – raise, lower, engage PTO, warning lights, wipers, etc.
Shut Down: • Reduce throttle ½ way • Disengage PTO • Raise unit • Turn off all electrical • Let idle (cool down 30 seconds) • Turn ignition switch off • Set emergency brake
