With parcipaon from the City of Naperville, the Will County Department of Highways (now the Will County Department of Transportaon), and the Forest Preserve District of Will County and several years of planning, Segment 5 of the DuPage River Trail opened in 2016. The terminus of the trail meets at 95 th Street Bridge where safe passage allows walkers and riders to cross underneath the bridge to connue north into Naperville or South into Bolingbrook.
Per the 2008 plan: 95th Street Extension “The Forest Preserve District of Will County and the Will County Highway Department have an intergovernmental agreement for the 95th Street extension through the DuPage River Confluence Preserve. The agreement states that as part of the new bridge, the Highway Department will provide a bicycle trail along 95th Street, a trail connecon under 95th Street and a trail connecon from 95th Street to the DuPage River Trail. The Park District should connue to work with the Forest Preserve District and the City of Naperville (as outlined in their own intergovernmental agreement) to construct the DuPage River Trail through this area” (Houseal Lavigne, p. 20).
