Entering 2026 with a refresh of its brand, website and team, Nolan Lighting & Electrical Solutions has ambitious plans to grow its product range and customer base. The business was established in 2012 as Nolan Distribution, with a mission to supply the Irish electrical industry with quality branded lighting and electrical goods at competitive prices, coupled with first-class customer service. Its heritage extends back to 1936, and the founding of Charles Nolan & Company by the grandfather of Nolan Lighting & Electrical Solutions MD Robert Nolan. An innovative business pioneering the import of prestige European brands such as Hager, Cellpack, Gewiss, 3F Filippi (Linda Corrosion Proof Fittings) and Fitzgerald Lighting, Charles Nolan & Company thrived until the economic crash of 2008. Over the years, leadership of the business passed from Charles Nolan to his son Richard and later to his grandson Robert. Due to the pressures of the financial
crash and poor health of Richard Nolan, the Nolan family took the difficult decision to close the business. Robert then launched the new business. An importer and distributor of domestic, commercial and industrial lighting and electrical, heating and ventilation products from top European brands, it holds exclusive agency in Ireland and NI for many prestigious names. Its products are largely sold through local electrical wholesalers and lighting showrooms across the island of Ireland. “Nolan Lighting & Electrical Solutions is a family business with 90 years of experience in the electrical and mechanical industries,” says Robert. “We are mainly focused on electrical wholesalers as we believe they are the backbone of the industry and the best equipped, in terms of knowledge and experience, to resell our product portfolio to the industry. “We believe that, although price is important in today’s highly competitive marketplace, tradespeople and end-
users should not be compromised by price-orientated, low-quality products.” Nolan Lighting & Electrical Solutions sits as an umbrella brand for the two divisions of Nolan Electrical Solutions and Nolan Lighting Solutions. Offering an extensive range from wiring accessories, home and industrial automation products to consumer unit enclosures, Nolan Electrical Solutions is the exclusive agent for ELMARK, Etelec, Everything Electrical, Palazzoli, PERRY, Tehnoplast and Zamel. Lighting represents a strong growth area for the business, with Beghelli and Performance iN Lighting among its top-performing brands. “We have a lot of emergency lighting solutions through Beghelli, Europe’s largest emergency lighting producer, now under the Gewiss LightZone umbrella,” says Robert. “We have supplied Beghelli’s wireless emergency lighting systems, Logica FM for most of the Aldi stores around Ireland as part of their store lighting upgrade project.”
