Grant Aerona R290 4kW Heat Pump.

For electrical contractors and M&E professionals, heating system performance is only part of the picture. When electrical requirements, system controls and heat pump specifications are clearly defined long before first fix, contractors can programme works more accurately, reduce on-site queries and avoid costly late-stage revisions. Recognising these challenges, Grant has invested in advanced digital design software to enhance its free-of-charge Heating Design & Specification Service. The result is clearer documentation, coordinated system information and practical, installer-ready outputs that help simplify delivery on site. Grant’s in-house technical team has long supported the industry with detailed room-by-room heat- loss calculations, accurate system sizing and regulatory guidance. The upgraded digital workflow builds on this foundation, delivering detailed radiator and underfloor heating sizing, complete hydronic and pipework layouts, clearer schematics and coordinated material schedules that can be reviewed and integrated early in the construction programme. Automated workflows reduce design time and enable Grant’s technical

team to respond efficiently to project enquiries, particularly on larger or more complex developments. Compliance remains central to the service. SR 50/MCS-compliant heat- loss documentation is produced as standard, supporting alignment with relevant building regulations and NZEB performance requirements and reducing the risk of late-stage revisions. At the heart of many new-build specifications is the award-winning Aerona R290 air-to-water air source heat pump. Designed specifically for the UK and Irish climate, the heat pump uses the natural refrigerant R290, with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of only 3. With five output sizes ranging from 4kW-16kW, the range offers flexibility across varying property types while supporting long-term decarbonisation goals.
