Aico has announced a significant expansion of its educational offering with its City & Guilds-assured Domestic Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm Systems course now delivered in Northern Ireland. In a move designed to enhance accessibility for life safety professionals, Aico is now delivering this course within local venues, removing the previous requirement for participants to travel to Aico’s headquarters in Shropshire. The introduction of regional training represents a commitment to supporting the NI electrical industry. By bringing the training directly to the local workforce, Aico aims to enhance professional development and ensure that the highest standards of fire and CO protection are more attainable than ever. A natural progression in professional development The City & Guilds-assured course is designed as a direct continuation of Aico’s FIA CPD-accredited Expert Installer training. While the Expert Installer sessions provide the essential foundations, this advanced qualification offers a deeper, more technical exploration of Aico’s domestic alarm systems. In 2025, Aico delivered 120 City & Guilds sessions – its highest number to date, showcasing growing year-on-year demand for the course. Delivery by Aico’s expert technical team, covering the same comprehensive criteria as at the Shropshire location, ensures consistency and quality across the UK. It provides a thorough overview of domestic life safety systems, focusing on: • Design and siting: Ensuring compliance with BS 5839-6 standards • Installation: Best practices for secure, reliable power and positioning
