RUBY MOLLY HOTEL, DUBLIN PROJECT PROFILE
DEMONSTRATING STRONG PROJECT MANAGEMENT, TECHNICAL CAPABILITY AND PARTNERSHIP, THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR DELIVERED THE PROJECT AHEAD OF SCHEDULE AND WITHIN BUDGET… Alfa Electrical completes complex installation
Alfa Electrical Ltd was appointed by main contractor Duggan Brothers to deliver all electrical services at the Ruby Molly Hotel. Located in Dublin’s historic Market District, the project involved construction of an eight-storey, 273-bedroom hotel on the site of a former fruit and vegetable warehouse. Despite its complexity, scale and constrained urban environment, Alfa Electrical successfully delivered the €3.1m contract ahead of schedule and within budget, demonstrating strong project management, technical capability and efficient collaboration. All main and sub distribution boards were supplied and installed in partnership with AMP Engineering Ltd, including Elsteel switchboard metalwork and Chint protection devices integrated with Rayleigh multifunction meters for BMS monitoring and energy management. Challenges included the presence of protected historic grave sites beneath the
site, restricting scope for underground service ducts, and location of the building’s main electrical riser 40m away from the primary main distribution board. James Brien, Contracts Manager, says, “Recognising the potential impact on installation efficiency and future maintenance, Alfa Electrical proposed a revised distribution strategy. A secondary main distribution board was introduced within the basement adjacent to the electrical riser, significantly reducing cable runs and the number of required underground ducts.” Cable containment combined cable tray and ladder systems, supplied through Alfa Electricals’ appointed wholesaler CEF. With electrical and mechanical installations sharing limited ceiling space within bedroom corridors, careful coordination with Phoenix Mechanical and the main contractor was required to avoid compromising access, safety or aesthetics. With 90% of the containment system remaining exposed, installation quality
