DE Power Solutions was commissioned by Alfa Electrical to deliver a life safety generator installation at the Ruby Molly Hotel in Dublin, a key element in ensuring the building’s resilience and compliance with modern safety standards. The project centred around the installation of a Rehlko hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) generator - an increasingly popular alternative to traditional diesel systems. HVO offers significantly reduced carbon emissions while maintaining the reliability required for critical backup power applications, making it well suited to forward-thinking hospitality developments such as Ruby Molly. The installation presented unique technical challenges, according to DE Power Sales Director Craig O’Shaughnessy. “This was an indoor installation, which requires additional bespoke design and mechanical considerations to safely manage airflow and exhaust gases,” he says. “Our in-house design team developed a tailored solution, which was submitted to the project’s consulting engineers and subsequently approved.” Indoor generator installations demand careful coordination across multiple disciplines, particularly when space constraints, ventilation requirements and acoustic performance must all be addressed without compromising efficiency or safety. DE Power’s design- led approach ensured that these factors were fully considered from the outset, enabling a smooth transition from concept through to installation. The project was delivered through close collaboration between DE Power, Alfa Electrical and the consulting engineer.
