IN THE FIRST OF A NEW SERIES FOR ELECTRICAL MAGAZINE, ALAN O CONNOR REVIEWS A VITAL ELEMENT OF HIS KIT, THE TECH PAC SPECIAL OPS BACKPACK FROM THE VETO PRO PAC TOOL BAG RANGE…

One piece of equipment I never expected to become such an important part of my electrical kit is my tool bag. Over time, I’ve realised that how you organise your tools can make a huge difference to efficiency on the job. For me, the Veto Pro Pac range stands out as one of the best on the market. My journey with the brand started with the Tech Pac Special Ops backpack. With its black design, high visibility yellow accents and rugged construction, it’s built like a tank and designed for daily site abuse. One of the standout features is the proprietary V-Swap panel system. The bag comes with both a tool panel and a meter panel as standard, and they can easily be swapped depending on what the job requires. That flexibility is a big advantage when moving between different types of work. I keep the front section loaded with my most frequently-used tools: screwdrivers, pliers, side cutters and long-nose pliers. Having them immediately accessible saves time

throughout the day. At the rear of the bag, the lower soft pockets hold my meter, channel locks, spanners, nut drivers and other day-to-day essentials. On the side pockets, I keep a tape measure, deep- hole marker, pencil and of course the trusty 3.5-4mm flathead; the go-to driver for many sparks. Like most electricians, the way I organise my tools has evolved over time, and every pocket tends to end up with its own purpose. There are also a few hidden gems tucked away in the bag, and I will leave that for you to find out when you get your hands on it! The real question isn’t which bag you prefer, it’s how you load it. Every electrician has their own system, and that setup says a lot about how they work on site. Alan O Connor is an electrician with expertise in automation and robotics. He runs Als Tool Channel, sharing tool and industry knowledge across social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, with a combined audience of over 69.4k followers.
