But we say: if you can’t beat them, "nd someone who can,” Beauchesne jested. “We looked for other people to partner with and we found an even better plan than the original one we had.” Beau’s has developed four phases to their plan, to partner with Bullfrog Power, adding a small array of solar panels to their roof that will not e!ect the grid, for Bullfrog Power to construct a solar project somewhere in Champlain township, either a community centre or school to help pro- vide them with renewable energy, and forth, to partner with Ottawa renewable Energy Co-op (OREC) to encourage Gree- ner Future Members to invest in renewable energy. With a $100 membership, Beau’s will give their members a $20 rebate.

VANKLEEK HILL | Beau’s All Natural Brewing Company announced Phase 2 of their Greener Futures Project on We- dnesday. Media were invited to discuss Beau’s decision to use green energy for its brewing and o!ce facilities. Partne- ring with Bullfrog Power and the Ottawa Renewable Energy Co-op (OREC), Beau’s is Canada’s "rst brewery to choose 100% renewable energy. The brewery uses revenues from the Greener Futures memberships to help grow their sustainability e!orts. “The Greener Futures Project includes a member’s only beer club,” said Steve Beauchesne, CEO and co-founder of Beau’s Brewery. “$125 a year gets you limited edition barrel-aged Beau’s beer that is not available to the general public. Louise Sproule, publisher of The Review in Vankleek Hill, was one of 13 recipients who recently received the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship at Queen’s Park in Toronto. The awardwas given in recognition of those who have made signi"cant contributions to the long-termquality of life in their communities. Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor, Elizabeth Dowdeswell, presented the medals on November 5 at a special ceremony at the University Club. The presentation was followed by a banquet for recipients and guests. Sproule was nominated for the award by Champlain Township. Ms Sproule also received a surprise at the Champlain council meeting this month with an award recognizing her achievements and acknowledging her success. Mayor Gary J. Barton arranged for friends and colleagues to take Sproule for drinks at Blueberry Hill Bistro to celebrate.
