About the Trust
King’s College Hospital is one of London’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals, with a strong profile of local services primarily serving the boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Bromley. With over 12,500 colleagues, their specialist services include nationally and internationally recognised work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences,
haemato-oncology and foetal medicine. The three main sites for King’s College Hospital are Denmark Hill, the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and Orpington Hospital. A new Critical Care Unit (CCU) has opened on the Denmark Hill campus with the vision to create a new environment designed to help people recover better. This will help transform the care of patients on their road to recovery. The Trust is also home to one of the UK’s leading centres for children, the Variety Children’s Hospital@King’s. Designed with children and their carers in mind, every year it treats and cares for more than 40,000 sick children. King’s College Hospital is one of four partners in the Academic Health Science Centre, King’s Health Partners, which collaborates on world-class research, driving their vision to become the best medical research campus in Europe. With such a strong history of research and innovation, during 2018/2019 patients have been able to participate in over 356 academic studies in over 30 research-active specialities.
