the night. The enthusiasm, pride, and togetherness shown by our House were clear for all to see, While we did not win, securing the best conductor award, finishing 2nd in the instrumental section, and claiming the Parents' Association Trophy for Best House Spirit speaks volumes. Term 3 started and we tried to replicate the passion in performance in the REACTION House Plays Festival competition. Flower's House has a strong tradition. This year, we produced a truly remarkable student-written play – produced and directed by Ed Davidson Our boys put on a magnificent show and thoroughly enjoyed preparing for the event and delivering such a well-thought-out, fun, and entertaining performance of which we were very proud, We had a large number of boys involved, with students from all year groups involved in presenting The Villain Pub . Again we received awards for costume and recognition for our outstanding acting and directing. The entire cast received loads of adulation from the crowd and praise from long-standing staff who felt that our respect for theatre was

exemplary. Special mention must go to George Matthews for his performance, as The Joker, which won an acting prize. Many boys achieved Duke of Edinburgh awards and were selected as school leaders, sports captains, and choir leaders. More than 30 boys were also selected for Canterbury squads in their chosen sports. It was a spirited day and undoubtedly one of our interhouse highlights of the year. Despite navigating Covid-19 restrictions, the boys continued to volunteer at Ronald McDonald House, giving time in service. There were a further four outreach initiatives this year, namely the Gumboot Walk led by Ed Davidson, a cycling fundraiser led by former Housemaster Dave Scott, the pigeon predator control in partnership with Riccarton Bush, and plastic duck racing to raise funds for Life Education. These initiatives were led and driven by the boys. I am incredibly proud of their efforts, highlighting the commitment to compassion, a core value at College. May we continue to grow boys who are renowned for leading from the heart. We qualified for several interhouse finals this year, including both junior
