boys’ commitment, teamwork, and passion for the game. With Zac Knight as the new Teacher-in-Charge, the club remained dedicated to nurturing players of all skill levels, a mission made possible through the invaluable support of College Old Boy Jared Chin. Jared’s substantial involvement led to the implementation of structured practice sessions and the introduction of a ladder system, promoting friendly competition among the boys. These initiatives played a key role in the boys’ success in various events throughout the year.
The chess calendar opened on a high note, with both the A and B teams performing impressively at the Canterbury Interschool Chess Competition. The B Team, led by Alex Fulton and Jake Hayes, secured 1st place with ease. On the other hand, the A Team faced formidable opponents, including St Andrew’s College, the former champion and tournament favourite. A standout moment was when Bill Li, in a time-pressured situation, secured a remarkable draw against the U20 national champion. Arthur
