Two teams competed in the junior regionals. The Year 9 team included James Anderson, Tom Kerr, and Sebastian Wynn Thomas. They spoke confidently and developed their skills and knowledge. The Year 10 team included JJ Wada and Tate Aikawa, with Paddy Newton stepping up to fill in for a student unable to attend. It proved to be a strong combination as the boys made the finals against St Margaret’s College and ended up in 2nd place. Another highlight every year is the House debating competition. It is always fiercely competitive, with certain Houses ensuring that they have a pool of talent developed in the junior years. This year, the senior House debating was narrowly won by Rolleston against a strong side from Flower’s House. Harper took the win in the junior competition. An honourable mention must go to Angus Vincent in Year 11. He is proving to be a very talented adjudicator, in both senior and junior debates.

Other events included the impromptu competition, the

showcase debate, and exchanges against St Margaret’s College in the Whiua te Kupu, and King’s College. St Margaret’s College proved to be very strong, taking out both the events against College while King’s College also won its debate with an entertaining end to the year. It has been fantastic to see the amazing talent developing within our debating squad, both in training and in the various competitions. Emma Bracken TiC Debating
