Register 2023

Boys Grade. The grade is usually dominated by Burnside High School. Kennedy is a great role model to his A team members and keeps the junior team players – as well as seniors older than himself – in line with his encouraging and mature approach during training sessions and outstanding skill set on show at practice and during all competition games. He is a deserving recipient of the Most Valuable Player in the team for 2023. Our Year 9 boys have proven to be a group with a wide range of abilities. Many of these boys have had a successful first year and will become the backbone of the club in years to come. Special thanks to a small group that includes Lester Lai, Paddy Newton, and Thomas Visakan as wonder subs, willing to play in any team in need all season. This

has been a huge help in a season still affected by Covid-19 clusters. Lester was unbeaten all season for every team he helped out – a rare achievement among club members. Yuri Minagawa continued as our always positive and thoughtful coach this season, patiently waiting for us to arrive at Badminton Hall at 4pm. Anna Johnston, Sam Squire, and Kate Belton must be recognised for all the van driving every Monday to training at Badminton Hall, and on Wednesday to games, and for offering constant sideline support to all the teams. The club awaits our new gym opening in 2024 so that we can return to training and playing on-site. It will be a big improvement on our current time and travel-

restricted programme. Steven Everingham MiC Badminton
