effort, the team did indeed reach the Thomson Trophy final but fell short against a fired-up St Thomas of Canterbury College. However, Senior A took another massive step at the South Island tournament. Needing to finish in the top-six to qualify for nationals, the boys were on a mission. In what seemed like the pool of death, the boys were undefeated, securing impressive wins. College beat Christchurch Boys’ High School comfortably in the quarter-final and was in complete control for most of the semi-final against St Thomas of Canterbury College. The boys fought hard but lost in the final to eventual nationals finalist Waimea College. With an impressive performance at the South Island competition, the boys were determined to deliver at nationals. That was exactly what they did in pool play, being undefeated and beating pre-tournament favourite

Rotorua Boys’ High School. Just like the Thomson Trophy final, the boys were a bit startled on the big stage against St John’s College in the quarter-final.
