SPORT Clay Target Shooting

MiC: Chris Graham TiC: Graeme Christey Manager: Chris Graham Coaches: Colin Miller, David Miller, Greg Lassen Team: Hugo Helmore (captain), Kieran Christey, Will Gould, Thomas Saunders, Will Pearson, Sam Nicholl, Flynn Price, Tom Costley, Oliver Skene, Jack Richardson, Harrison Johnstone, Alex Harrison, Harry Wilson Christ’s College, in partnership with the Waihora Clay Target Club, provides an opportunity for boys to train in clay target shooting as a club and full-time winter sport option. Boys in the clay target shooting team compete in the Canterbury Secondary Schools (SS) Clay Target Shooting competition, as well as the South Island, North Island, and New Zealand Secondary Schools competitions.

the NISS Championships and NZSS Championships. In the Canterbury SS competition, team members regularly achieved top-three placings and personal bests (PBs) and proved to be competitive in the Points Score teams competition. Kieran Christey won the Crafts-Wright Cup for the aggregate Canterbury SS season score. The SISS Championships were held in Dunedin, with 127 competitors from more than 30 schools competing. Nine members of the College team travelled to Dunedin and competed well on the unfamiliar shooting grounds and

amid challenging weather conditions. Kieran won the title of the 2023 SISS Single Rise High Overall Champion, as well as 1st place in the Single Barrel. Jack shot a very good Points Score in the junior section and finished 2nd. Will Pearson, Flynn, Alex, Harry, and Oliver all scored PBs in various events. The NISS and NZSS Championships were held in Waikato from 23–25 September, with about 315 students competing from more than 60 schools. Eleven College team members competed in the event, with eight boys shooting PBs at different times during the competition.

All boys competed in Secondary School (SS), club, and NZCTA competitions.
