MiC: Olivia Austin Managers: Keri Campbell, Neil Porter, Elaine Tang Coach: Logan Hamilton Term 1 is a bustling period for both coaches and swimmers as preparations intensify for the school swimming sports event. This year, the atmosphere was especially vibrant, with the opportunity to compete after years of Covid-19- related restrictions. Notably, Rylind Wheeler secured the junior title for Jacobs House, closely trailed by Luke Manderson. These emerging talents are expected to be formidable contenders for the top titles in swimming events next year. In the U14 category, Jake Boyd emerged victorious for Rolleston House, while in the intermediate division, Finlay McCullough (Julius House) clinched the victory. In the senior division, James Drury (Somes House) was the winner. In the grand tally, Julius House emerged as the victor, amassing an impressive 415 points while Harper House was next with 302 points, followed by Corfe House with 234 points. The day was marked by tremendous enthusiasm and a sense of pride in every House. This traditional event set the tone for what promised to be a fantastic year.

Rylind Wheeler was recognised as the Outstanding Junior Male Swimmer. CANTERBURY SECONDARY SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS The swim team headed down to Jellie Park on 4 May to participate in the annual Canterbury Secondary Schools’ swim meet. College had a small swim team but finished with 13 podium finishes and six Canterbury titles. In the Junior events, titles were won by Mun Chi Jager in the U14 100m freestyle, Luke Manderson in the U14 50m freestyle, and Rylind Wheeler in the U14 50m breaststroke. In the Seniors, Conor McCullough won both the U18 50m backstroke and the Open 200m individual medley, while Max Harris won the U18 50m breaststroke. Justin Wang, Finlay McCullough, Max Harris, Daniel Bridgman and the Senior relay team were 2nd or 3rd in their events. SPECIAL MENTIONS Among the notable accomplishments were Jordan Astley's contribution as a member of the triumphant 17–18 years 4 x 100m freestyle relay team at the New Zealand Age Group Championships. Additionally, Rylind Wheeler displayed exceptional prowess, securing a commendable 3rd in both the 14 years 50m and 100m breaststroke events at the same championships. Olivia Austin MiC Swimming
