the contest. The final tie ended in 6–1 4–6 6–10 as College narrowly missed out on the national title by four points on a super tiebreak. From 21–22 November, the annual Canterbury Secondary Schools Junior Championships was held at Wilding Park. Building on his previous year’s success in this competition, Louis de Lautour clinched the Year 10 singles title, and the doubles title with Nick Rayner. In 2023, College entered three teams of three in the Canterbury Schools Premier Grade competition. The competition proved extremely valuable, ensuring weekly competitive matches to keep the Senior A players sharp and match fit. The team played incredibly well with the only one notable loss to St Andrew’s College. The Senior B side – made up of younger players – fought competitively throughout the season. Once again our B1 team performed extremely well, ensuring an unbeaten season and the competition title. In the Years 9–10 competitions, the 9.1 team and the J1 side were incredibly competitive in their respective sections, with the 9.1 team wining its competition in both Term 1 and Term 4. In total, College entered three teams in Premier Grade, eight teams in B grade, one team at Year 10, and three at Year 9 in the Canterbury Secondary Schools Wednesday competition. In addition, College ran a non-competition squad for the seniors and the juniors, coordinated by Katie Southworth, Claire J Sparks, and Sarah Loughnan, with more than 40 boys participating. It has been another successful year for Christ’s College tennis. We are fortunate to have a very strong pool of talented players. We would like to thank Matt Meredith and Hugo Nurse-Strang for their excellent coaching. We would also like to thank the teaching staff who gave great support throughout the year – Charlotte de Roles, Sarah Loughnan,
Kate Morris, Ginny Patterson, Katie Southworth, Claire Sparks, and
