The 2022–2023 season has been a pleasure to watch unfold. Christ’s College teams have outperformed themselves, with the highlight of the season being the Senior A boys earning a very respectable 3rd place in Division 3 at the National Championships. That, in turn, earns the Canterbury region

an additional space in the top 32 (Divisions 1 and 2) for 2024. The season began in Term 4 2022, with eight teams entered in the Canterbury Secondary Schools competition (Senior A and B, three Year 11 teams, Junior A, and two mixed junior teams). While the Term 4 Monday night competition was short and sweet, with only six weeks of games, all boys did their teams proud. The Junior A team came out swinging as it prepared for the Canterbury Junior Secondary School Championships and the South Island Junior Indoor Championships. The boys stepped up their game in the Canterbury tournament at Pioneer Stadium, finishing 8th in a strong field of 12. Finishing below teams they had beaten earlier in the tournament taught the boys some valuable lessons about tournament play. They put this to good use as they headed to Nelson to compete in the South Island Championships. Some close losses in the first two days put the team in the bottom eight of Division 1. However, when
