YEAR 10 – IMMERSE & INSPIRE Under the Immerse & Inspire programme, Year 10 students had career sessions in the evenings where we continued to use the MyMahi platform. The boys were able to review their goals previously done in mentor groups and reflect on their learning style and Character Strengths. They created their curriculum vitae, looked at various jobs on the CareersNZ website, and subjects they should consider taking based on their interests. MyMahi also offers a site where part-time or holiday jobs can be found. It was pleasing to hear that Years 11–12 boys revisited their MyMahi, especially regarding CVs. YEAR 11 – FINDING YOUR PATHWAY This is the second year that College has run the Finding Your Pathway programme for Year 11 students doing the College Diploma. The boys visited Foodstuffs and the Archibalds car dealership to see organisations in action and hear about the employees’ pathway to their current jobs. The boys also visited three Christchurch tertiary institutions – Lincoln University, UC, and Ara. Various Old Boys visited College and talked to the boys about their own career pathways. On the final day, representatives from other tertiary providers, notably Whitecliffe, Yoobee, SIT (Southern Institute of Technology), Mainz, and The Broadcasting School, talked to the boys about their organisations. YEAR 13 LEAVERS Below are the statistics, as of November 2023, for boys leaving at the end of the year. In all, 89% intend to study at tertiary institutions in 2024 and 11% intend to work or do a GAP year or apprenticeship.
