DID YOU KNOW??
The Grassland Fire Danger Index or GFDI is an index that describes the rate of spread of a grass fire (and therefore the difficulty of putting it out). The index was developed in Australia and has been adapted for the Great Plains. It is based on a combination of the greenness of the grass, and various meteorological parameters. The higher the index, the faster a grass fire will spread. GFDI Index Scale
