THE KING’S BUSINESS

sang the gospel story, some of the other street car passengers joining in the familiar hymns. It was a group of girls to whom Jesus Christ was real. A n invitation to the Lyceum Club given to a woman on a street car led to a talk about the Lord and His plan of salvation, but the woman knew little of Him and cared little, having been raised in an in fidel home. A brief meeting later led the Bible woman to pray that God would lead her to this needy soul at just the right time, and just when her heart was ready. The prayer was answered three weeks later when the woman had been forced to leave her work after three sleepless nights, and go to her home. Her first greeting was that she had been thinking of the Bible woman, and looking for her on the street cars, and an admission that she had remembered the first talk about the Lord. With the Holy Spirit working, and the heart made hun gry, her acceptance of Christ as her Saviour followed naturally. Prayer was offered for her deliverance from her special physical trouble on the promise of Philippians 4:19. Three days later the Bible woman returned to find that prayer answered, and the wo man’s heart burdened for one who was very dear to her, but who did not know the Lord. D istrict B ible C lass opened Wednesday with six present, all very untaught, hungry women. Do not know how to find places, most of them. One little woman who had come back to the Lord came and brought her two babies, one thirteen months, the other four weeks old. The husband is be coming interested. This last week I came into the home of a mother who was sick and a backslidden Christian. Her neighbor had that morn ing brought in Science and Health, telling her all she need do was to read it faith fully and be healed. God opened His Word to her and she confessed a total ignorance of the Word and promised, when able, to attend the class, but to have her daughter

come at once. She asked me to come again and read and talk with her. After I prayed with her, the tears were streaming down her face and she said again and again, “O, I'm so glad you came.” Will see her again this week. C alling in the home of a young mother (18 years old) with a tiny baby, I found she was anxious to teach the baby the right way. During the conversation I found she was leaning toward Christian Science. Some tracts were left on Science, also some show ing the right way to God. I left with the promise to return. Then Satan began to be busy. After definite prayer in our Tues day conference I returned, but found the mother sick and no opportunity to talk per sonally, but God gave me the privilege of meeting the grandmother, a member of the Friend’s Church. She told me of her anx iety for her daughter. Last Friday morning I called again and found the little mother turned completely away from Science and willing to give her heart to God. Let us pray especially for this woman. Her hus band is not a Christian and is very much engrossed in the things of this world. He is a victim of the cigarette habit which he tried to give up when the baby was born, but after a week of abstinence went back to the habit again. God can give him lib erty in Christ. W e learned recently that a former mem ber of a Bible Class, who had left the city, was seriously ill, and not expected to live. Unhesitatingly, we said, “Well, she is ready to go.” Next we heard that she had re turned to be prayed for, for healing. We felt pressed in spirit to see her and went early one morning. We found her very miserable and sad looking. When we said, “It’s all well with you, is it not?” she an swered, “O, no. Do you know, I am not a saved woman. That troubles me more than my health. My life has been such a lie. I was brought up to read the Bible and pray, joined the church at nine years old, liked the Bible, but there never was any change
