EBSCO Discovery Service – Function Word of Life Bible Institute subscribes to EBSCO’s Discovery Service (EDS), which is a search layer over all of the Library’s online resources: • Follett Destiny Library Manager • Galaxie Journal Database • EBSCO eBooks This search service is designed to bring students to their desired destination quickly and accurately. – Location EDS is located in the Student Portal: studentportal.wol.org | Student Portal – Word of Life Bible Institute – Video Tutorial The Library Resources tab in the Student Portal contains an EDS video tutorial that explains in detail how to use the service. – Access Students use Word of Life Bible Institute’s institutional credentials to log into EDS. • Username: wolbi1970 • Password: updated each year and given at Orientation • Students may contact the Library Team or Director to be reminded of the password – EDS Accounts Creating an individual MyEBSCO account in EDS allows a student to use all the features of the service, including tracking search history, initiating projects, and building a body of research within folders. – Additional Databases EBSCO includes additional databases covering areas of study far beyond the Bible Institute’s curriculum. These include information supporting viewpoints not held by the school. Destiny Library Manager – Function All of the online library catalog records for both print books and eBooks in the Library’s collection are stored in Destiny Library Manager. – Location • Destiny Library Manager is incorporated into the EBSCO Discovery Service. Students may find all print books and eBooks by using EDS’s search bar. • There is a direct link to Destiny under Library Resources in the Student Portal. – Video Tutorial A Destiny video tutorial is available under the Library Resources tab in the Student Portal. This tutorial explains in detail how to perform searches in Destiny using its tools and limiters, and how to read a Dewey Decimal call number to find a book.
