unit; BOBST unveiled its new hybrid flexo press; and OMET launched its new X7, a flexo printing machine for labels and flexible packaging with 26-inch web width and the latest in its XFlex line. “Exhibitor participation this year has been truly in- credible, not only in the number of returning compa- nies, but also the newcomers joining us for the first time,” said Lisa Milburn, Managing Director of Labelex- po Global Series.“It is astonishing to think that at the first show there were just 44 exhibitors —proof of how far the industry has grown in the last four decades.” At the Flexible Packaging Arena, visitors could watch as a BOBST M6 (UV Flexo) press produced indirect food contact flexible packaging to the latest GMP stan- dards, and live demonstrations took place throughout the four days of the show. Spread across nine exhibition halls, more than 600 confirmed exhibitors took part in Labelexpo Europe 2019. Between them, exhibitors demonstrated their latest innovations and technology including: digital and conventional printing presses; high tech label and packaging materials; finishing and converting systems; inspection, overprinting and label application equip- ment; inks and coatings; RFID and security solutions; and software and interactive technology. Labelexpo Europe 2019 was again strongly support- ed and endorsed by the trade bodies FINAT, AIMCAL, EUWID, Febelgra, SPPES, UNFEA and VskE. Label Industry Global Awards Avery Dennison, Esko, and GMG were among the cat- egory winners honored at this year’s Label Industry Global Awards, which took place September 24, the first night of Labelexpo Europe 2019. Now in its 16th edition, the awards recognize the most innovative, influential and successful work from the label and package printing industry across the globe in the last twelve months. It was the largest La- bel Industry Global Awards event yet as it also cele- brated the 40th anniversary of Labelexpo. The Award for Innovation ( for companies with up to 300 employees ), sponsored by Flint Group Narrow Web, was presented to GMG GmbH & Co. KG , for its GMG Calibration CreationWizard.Developed to en- able customers to create color-accurate mock-ups for labels, flexible packaging and cartons, the judges were impressed with how the company had connected GMG Color Management software with an Epson SC- S80600 to achieve such accurate reproducible proofs. The Award for Innovation ( for companies with more than 300 employees ), sponsored by Xeikon, went to Esko for its Esko Print Control Wizard software, devel-
