The National Guide Right Awards Representing a Year's Worth of Preparation in Dozens of Communities Throughout Kappa Alpha Psi ® By Damon Peebles

T he 83 rd Grand Chapter Meet- ing featured nine provinces participating in the Student of the Year Competition and four provinces competing in the Under- graduate Level of the Competition on Friday, July 21 st . The Competitions were presented by the National Guide Right Commission. The Commission pre- sented National Guide Right Awards to individuals and chapters in recognition of their year-long efforts to provide the very best in community service to the chapters' respective communities. ter Meeting. High School Student of the Year (first place) was awarded to Joe Luis Porter, Columbus (OH), East Central Province. He played the violin. Kai Standifer, Greenville (SC) Southeastern Province, was awarded second place for his work on the piano; Jaden Hicks, Murfeesboro (TN), South Central Province was awarded third place for his spoken word presentation, and fourth place went to Jalan Veasley, Richardson (TX) Southwestern Prov- ince, for his spoken word presentation. Owoseni, Lambda Lambda Chapter – Paul Quinn College, Southwestern Province. The Byron Kenneth Arm- strong Awardee presented a monologue entitled "From London." The second place award went to Sam Wilson, Beta Psi Chapter – Kansas State University, Middle Western Province. He present- ed an operatic interpretation of "Give Me Jesus." National Guide Right Awards

The Jay Crosby Small Chapter Award for an Outstanding Guide Right Chapter went to Columbus (MS) Alumni Chapter of the Southwestern Province. West Palm Beach (FL) Alumni Chapter of the Southern Province was presented with the Silver award, and College Park (GA) Alumni Chapter, of the Southeastern Province, was presented the Bronze award. The Jay Crosby Medium Chapter Award for an Outstanding Guide Right Chapter went to Berkeley (CA) Alumni Chapter, of the Western Province. The Silver award was presented New Rochelle-White Plains (NY) Alumni Chapter, of the North- eastern Province; and Norfolk (VA) Alumni Chapter, of the Eastern Province was presented the Bronze award.

The Jay Crosby Large Chapter Award for an Outstanding Guide Right Chapter went to Mobile (AL) Alumni Chapter, of the Southern Province. The Silver award
