KAPPA COMMENTARY: NATIONAL CHAPLAIN'S ARTICLE OF FAITH
Heightened Spirituality
By Dr. Tony C. Evans, Sr., National Chaplain
B rothers, as we concluded the 83 rd Grand Chapter Meeting in Orlando, Florida, I was introduced as the next National Chaplain of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. This is a great honor and I look forward to serving “You” in this capacity and continuing to “Heighten the Spirituality” of our great fraternity. The Word of God stated in Matthew 6:33, “ Seek Ye First, the Kingdom of God , and His righteousness and ALL things will be added unto you”. This is a formula that will guide us in achievement in every
Also when a budget is in place, fiscal management is the process that implements the budget on the expenditure side, determining how funding is administered within the chapter once it has been appropriated. Within every long-range plan there is a strategic plan which will ensure the achievement of various objectives and goals while creating value for its member. In most instances, our chapters are very good at articulating or designing a long-range plan of action, but fail to execute a strategic plan when necessary to achieve the desired results. Having lack of vision and values of concern for the organization will result in the lack of direction given by its leadership and the focus of its members. By combining the concepts of both long-rang planning along with strategic planning will set the general path to success in achieving the chapters goals and objectives while having the ability to adapt to everyday changing environments. With this said, by having each and every member’s fiscal management concerns and guidance, we can ensure that there are more efficient and effective chapters within our organization while achieving success. By creating this value for our membership, I believe that we can grow to take Kappa to new levels not yet achieved!
field of human endeavor. Embracing and committing to the application of God’s Word will change your life forever as well as the lives of others. Our ten Christian Founders started our fraternity under Christian principles. Each of us decided to follow and become part of these principles. Yes, to follow an organization that is grounded in Christian principles, anchored in service to mankind, driven by a relentless pursuit of achievement in every field of human endeavor. As the National Chaplain of Kappa Alpha Psi ® , I would like to serve you by heightening the spirituality and providing support in developing a National Chaplaincy Network. This network will provided a national directory of ministers across the country to provide various levels of spiritual support, counseling, and prayer. This directory will be made available to all active brothers through the fraternity’s website. As we heighten the spirituality within our fraternity, it begins with Kappa’s relationship with God. In the book of Genesis, it indicates that in the beginning was the Word and the word was with God and the Word was God. In his creation, he created man and shortly after he determined man was not to be along and created woman. The concept of not being along remained with God and over the years emphasis have always been placed on organizing and development organizations. For you Bible scholars you’re familiar with the Scribes, Sadducees and Pharisees. These were also organizations. Well not to pre-long the point I want to make, Jesus set out on the mission to get the word out about repentance and God’s Word, when he called out 12 men to follow him. Interesting enough, I called them the first fraternity united under a fundamental purpose to be trained, to teach and preach the Word of God and repentance. Unfortunately it was not called Kappa , but they were called Disciples. They were similar to each of us, Each having different backgrounds, gifts and talents. All determined and capable at the time to follow the principles set forth by their founder Jesus Christ. This concept has never ended and many organizations including the church were developed in similar fashion. As you may recall, Jesus Christ established the first Church, In speaking with the disciples you may recall he said“ Upon this Rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. [Matthew 16:13 – 20]. The “Rock” was not a person, but was in reference to the “Earth.” The Kingdom of God is and was intended to be on Earth and over time encompass the entire planet. A church without walls. The first Fraternity concept has spread likewise into the formation of many fraternal organizations around the world. This concept was again originated by Christ.
