Born on June 7, 1924 in Bloomington, Indiana, Brother Johnson was the fourth child of George A. and Edith T. Johnson. After graduating from Wilmington, Dela- ware’s Howard High School, Brother Johnson attended Indiana University (IU) and opted to leave IU where he was studying pre-medicine to volunteer for the Army Air Corps in September 1943.
