ushered Brother Holley into the garden of eternal peace to be with his Creator, Lord and Savior. As Christ extended His hand, Brother Holley humbly took his place in Heaven on Saturday, August 5, 2017. He was born on March 22, 1920 in Madisonville, Tennessee to William and Mary (Toomey) Holley. He grew up in Alcoa, Tennessee until he moved to Kentucky and graduated from Lincoln High School. Brother Holley enrolled at Morristown College graduating before he entered into the military. Like many men of his generation, he answered the call to serve during the Second World War in the United States Marine Corps. He worked in communications as well as seeing combat in the Pacific Theater. After the War, he entered Knoxville College (KC). While at KC, he helped charter the Beta Phi of Kappa Alpha Psi ® , Fraternity, Inc. March of 1947. He graduated from Knoxville College in 1948 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociol- ogy. He entered Fisk University working in a special research project under the Southern Leadership Christian Confer- ence. James entire life was centered on empowering people to reach their goals. James taught in the Maryville School System and managed training programs for the Knox County Community Ac- tion Committee. Years ago he was once active with the Knoxville (TN) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ® . The message of our Lord was important to James. At Shiloh Presbyterian Church, he found a place to work in the ministry. There he was an Elder and sang in the choir. All his life, he helped make a dif- ference in this world, but to his family he was a beloved dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Holley; sister, Alice Boyd; and son, James Leon Holley, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Cora Holley; brother, Carlton Holley of Detroit, MI;

engineering. Gary then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), receiving his BS in electrical engineering. In 1969 Gary was initiated into the Delta Kappa of Kappa Alpha Psi ® in Milwaukee. Gary served as polemarch of the chapter for a number of years and was instrumental in seeing the chapter grow over that time. In 1975 Gary moved his family to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he worked for the Hewlett Packard Corporation while continuing his passion as a DJ in local clubs. In 1995 an opportunity presented itself and Gary became sole owner of The French Quarters in Mountain View, California, and moved the club to Sunnyvale. Gary retired as a business owner in 2013 but continued to DJ at The Blue Note in Milpitas, California, and at special events until his death. James L. Church in Troy, Alabama where he served for over 25 years as a devoted member and deacon. Brother Henderson graduated from Charles Henderson High School in Troy, Alabama. Brother Henderson furthered his education by attending Troy State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. While attending graduate school at Troy State University Brother Henderson became one of the twenty charter members of the Theta Phi of Kappa Alpha Psi ® on Troy State’s campus —making Kappa Alpha Psi ® the first Black Greek-Lettered Organization on the predominately White campus of Troy State University. The line name of the founding brothers was called the Historical Twenty but is more famously known as “H20”. Brother Henderson positively impacted the lives of numerous individuals while serving as Director of Troy Housing Authority, Executive Director of OCAP- Head Start of Troy and over 16 years as city councilman for the City of Troy. Upon his retirement, Brother Hender- son continued to touch and influence the lives of individuals through his work with Kappa Alpha Psi ® , and other out- reach ministries.
