KAPPA NEWS: 104 TH ELDER WATSON DIGGS AWARDEE—MICHAEL J. DUBOSE

M ichael J. Dubose’s journey to this point began on March 1, 1956. On that date he was born in Los Angeles, CA, becoming the eldest of five children. His family relocated to Jacksonville, FL where he spent his forma- tive years surrounded by love of his strong parents and grandparents who helped form a solid foundation for the man he has become. He is a spring 1975 initiate of the Alpha Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on the campus of Florida A&M University. Brother Dubose graduated with a Bachelor’s of science dual major degree in music and business. In 1979, from Florida A&M University. He also has a Master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Alabama in 1983. During his collegiate career at Florida A&M he was the president of the band. In 1978, head drum major for the marching and symphonic band 1978-79, and French horn principle section leader for the marching symphonic band 1976-79. Brother Dubose is a successful senior executive and business leader with more than three decades of experience improving processes to facilitate growth and managing critically successful turnaround. His experience spans both private and public-sector companies includ- ing, Staples, Corporate Express, Alliant Food Service, Baxter and American Hospital Supply. After working for a number of global busi- nesses in healthcare he joined his current company W.W. Grainger as the Vice President of Corporate and Major Accounts where he was directly responsible for 2.3 Billion dollars of the company’s 9 Billion global market. Brother Dubose is a community advocate having served on several nonprofit boards. He is currently the chair- man of the board for the National Sales Network (NSN) the largest professional sales network in the U.S., an executive board member of the Greater Atlanta Council for the Boy Scouts of America, and the president and chairman of the board for the Kappa Alpha Psi National Foundation. He has previously served as the chairman of the board for the Community Achievement Center of Atlanta, and as a board member of New Mercies Christian Church. Of his numerous accomplishments, Brother Dubose takes great pride in being the Co-Founder of the Community Achievement Center (CAC) in Decatur Georgia. The CAC is a joint venture with the Decatur (GA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and the Decatur Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and DeKalb County Government. CAC is a 501c3 organization that runs programs and services for the surrounding community and manages a 30,000-square county facility of the citizens of DeKalb County. It is the first partnership of its kind in Georgia involving a fraternity, a sorority, and county government. Brother Dubose is a five-time national committee chairman for the Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and it currently the national committee chair- man for the corporate strategic alliance cluster. He is a life mem- ber of the fraternity, the Southeastern Province and Decatur (GA) Alumni chapter. In addition, he has received numerous awards at the province and grand chapter level and he is a founding member of the K100 Executive Leadership Organization. Brother Dubose resides in Decatur Georgia with his wife Elisabeth Dubose and their son Alexander Michael.
