and falsehood do lie” (Micah 2:11). The translation here is very misleading, making it appear that a man might walk in “the spirit” and in “falsehood” at the same time. It is much better translated by the American Revised Ver sion, “If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood do lie.” A n o t h e r possible translation is, “If a man walking In wind and falsehood do lie.”— 2. “Saying, I will prophesy unto thee of'wine and of strong drink; he shall

The pres ence of such things in a professing Christian’s life is the sign that the real life is either, absent or that it is inop erative, and that that one is not ready for “the kingdom.” Points and Problems 1. “If a man walking in the spirit

that we should be careful lest the luxuries and pleasures of this life take such hold upon us that our eyes will be blinded to the fulfillment of pro phecy that is taking place. j We are exposed to danger not only by the pleasures of this life but by its cares as well. Cares, fears, and anxie ties can as .easily blind the eyes to the truth of God as can drunkenness. The sin of indulging in strong drink is emphasized as being the principal evil of our times. Its awfulness is not to be minimized. But "cares” are as much the. enemies of the Christian as are drunkenness, surfeiting, or any other in dulgence. There is danger that Sunday- school children, as well as adults, shall conceive the idea that indulgence in strong drink is the chief evil to which prophets and apostles were opposed. Rather it is rebellion against God of which the Bible warns—a rebellion of which drunkenness is but one indication. in. T he I nheritors of the K ingdom (1 Cor. 6:9-11) We must exercise care lest we leave the impression in the minds of the pu pils that if one is not a fornicator, or a thief, or a drunkard, and'so forth, that one is sure of being an inheritor of the kingdom. There were certain ones at Corinth who indulged in these things, while claiming to belong* to the Lord. They ignored the fact that if they were truly regenerated, these things would be repulsive to them, and would naturally be put away from their lives. These professors gave no sign that they had been touched by the Spirit of purity and soberness. The apostle reminds the true believ ers that, while formerly they lived in sinful manner, they, were now, by grace, delivered from it. The true believers are those who have been washed from all uncleanness, cleansed from the filth of nature, and purified by the Spirit of God. They are also sanctified, that is, set apart from all former manner of life and objectives, and given a new manner of living with new objectives. Sanctification here means separation from sinfulness and unto the righteous ness of God. Furthermore,' they are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus arid stand before God as being clothed wiuh the perfection of their Lord. The ’implication is that those who are thus
