We read that the apostles “continued stedfastly,” and “they continued daily.” They rose up with wings as eagles. There are times when we run, ‘and are not weary. Those are passing per iods of special importance. But the daily Christian life is a walk. . . . In a thousand different ways, and not least by keeping yourself in touch with other Christians, a spiritual nature will be built up as the Spirit lays bare the secrets of the truth of His Word, and those good things which God has pre pared for those that love Him. —Colin C. Kerr. Demas went with Paul, but he never went all the way; all the time there was in the heart of Demas a love for that world which he knew in Thessa- lonica, and the time came when that love which Demas had for the world got the dominion over him, and one day he crept away from Paul. . . . An incomplete consecration — beloved, is that true of you? Is it this present age which is the rival with your Lord in your heart?—W. H. Aldis. EIGHTH DAY To Will and to Do “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling: for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Phil. 2:12, 13). There are many whose difficulty is not so much that they' cannot over come their sin, but that they do not want to. . . . If your difficulty is “to do,” then He is prepared to work in you, so that you shall “do.” If your difficulty is to want to do, to will to do, then ask Him to do that blessed work within you. Ask Him, as dear Dr. Meyer used to say, to make you willing to be made willing, for He can do that. —Guy H. King. NINTH DAY Satisfied “As for God, his way is perfect” (Psa. 18:30). “As for man; his days are as grass” (Psa. 103:15). “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness” (Psa. 17:15). “As for God . . . as for man .". . as for me.” “As for God,vhis way is per fect.” No matter what comes, I know He makes no mistake. Sickness may come, financial trouble may come, fam ily trouble may come, church troubles may, come, and there is no trouble on earth so bad as trouble among the people of God, but no matter what happens, “as for God, his way is per SEVENTH DAY Incomplete Consecration “Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world” (2 Tim. 4:10). /

fect.”' But as for man, David says, l have learned not to expect much from him, “his days are as grass.’ But “as for me, I shall be satisfied when I awake, with thy likeness.” . —H. A. Ironside. TENTH DAY The Church “And he is the head of the body, the church” (Col. 1:18). No society of man—no matter wh^t its patronage—goes beyond the grave. The one unique and only living society on the earth is the company of those redeemed into life by the blood of Jesus Christ. Of that body of Christ, the organic body of Christ, the composite body of Christ—of that body, Jesus Christ in His living sovereignity is the one supreme and indisputable Head. —T. M. Bamber. ELEVENTH DAY Contend “Earnestly contend for the faith i^hich was once delivered unto the saints” (Jude 3). The apostle did not mean, “Lecture on Christian evidences.” That may be a perfectly proper thing to do in its place. He did not mean, “Form a league for the defense of the Bible.” He did not mean, “Argue with every man you meet that these things are so.” The final argument for faith in the world is not the argument of words, but the argument of life. What he meant was this: “Put into the business of your defense of this great faith passionate and determined effort; let there be the abandon and cautiousness of the ath lete.”—G. -Campbell Morgan, V TWELFTH DAY Living Epistles “Ye are Our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men . . . written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God” (2 Cor. 3:2, 3). This Bible I carry is bound in the best sealskin, , with a kid lining. It is supposed to be the best binding for hard wear. But there is a much better sort of ■leather than that for Bible binding . . . The people want the Bible bound in shoe leather! When we tread this Bible out In our daily walk, when what we are becomes an illustrated copy of the Bible, the greatest revival the earth has known will come. With ut most reverence let me say that our Lord Jesus wants to come and walk around in our shoes, and live inside our garments, and touch men through us. —S. D. Gordon. THIRTEENTH DAY Christlike “I am crucified with Christ: never theless I live; yet not I, but Christ liyeth in me” (Gal. 2:20).
