EXPLORING SWANSEA

Swansea is a coastal city with a modern, cosmopolitan feel located next to the award winning Gower Peninsular in South Wales.

Wales is one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom, has its own language – the oldest living language in Europe – and the University offers discounted Welsh lessons if you would like to learn. Wales has an abundance of castles to explore, mountains to climb and delicious local dishes to try – the perfect antidote to a long week of studying. Whether you are a sports fanatic, culture vulture or outdoor adventurer, you’ll find plenty to keep you busy. MUMBLES Mumbles is a vibrant seaside village, with over 120 shops, restaurants and pubs hugging the west side of Swansea Bay. The picturesque village is home to Mumbles Pier, an 254 meter long Victorian pier built in 1898 and Oystermouth Castle, a Norman stone castle with sprawling grounds that overlooks Swansea Bay. The Mumbles Oyster Festival is one of many attractions for foodies, while the competition for the premier ice cream parlour in Mumbles remains as fierce as ever. THE DYLAN THOMAS CENTRE The Dylan Thomas Centre is a permanent exhibition of the life and times of one of the literary giants of the 20th century. Dylan Thomas was born and raised in Swansea and there are a variety of tours and guides that bring you closer to the Swansea legend.
